About
Helping You Understand Yourself, Strengthen Your Mindset and Grow With Intention
Hi, I’m Steve — Stephen-Jones Johnson.
I’m an author, Mindset and Wellness Coach, Positive Psychology Practitioner, Master NLP Practitioner and CBT Coach Practitioner, with a professional background in critical care nursing. My work is centred around one simple belief:
When you understand yourself better, you give yourself a greater opportunity to change your life for the better.
Through books, coaching, practical tools, courses and educational content, I help people develop greater self-awareness, strengthen their mindset, understand their emotions and create meaningful, sustainable personal growth.
My Story
From Critical Care to Personal Growth
My professional journey began in healthcare and still a huge part of my life. For many years, I have worked in critical care nursing, supporting people and their families through some of the most difficult and uncertain moments of their lives.
That environment taught me lessons you can’t always learn from textbooks.
I saw resilience.
I saw fear.
I saw courage.
I saw how quickly priorities can change.
And I saw how profoundly our thoughts, emotions, relationships and sense of purpose can influence the way we experience life. Those experiences deepened my interest in human behavior, psychology, mindset, and wellbeing.
I wanted to understand why some people adapt during adversity, why our thoughts can sometimes become our greatest obstacle, and how people can develop the psychological tools to navigate life with greater awareness and resilience.
That curiosity eventually led me further into the study of Positive Psychology, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, cognitive and behavioral approaches, emotional intelligence, and personal development. Over time, what began as an interest became a passion:
helping people understand themselves better and realize that meaningful change is often possible when we learn to change the way we think, respond, and act.
Why Mindset Matters
Change Often Begins Before Anyone Else Can See It
Many of the biggest changes in our lives begin internally. They start when we question an old belief.
When we recognise an unhealthy pattern. When we learn to pause before reacting.
When we stop allowing fear to make every decision.
When we become more intentional about how we speak to ourselves.
Or when we finally decide that the life we are living no longer reflects the person we want to become.
That is why mindset is at the heart of much of my work. But mindset is not simply about “thinking positively”.
Real personal growth requires awareness, reflection, emotional intelligence, responsibility and action.
Positive thinking can be helpful, but growth also means learning how to face uncomfortable emotions, recognise our patterns, challenge limiting beliefs and make choices that support the life we want to create.

Emotional Intelligence
Understanding What You Feel Changes How You Respond
Our emotions influence our thoughts, relationships, communication, behaviour and decisions every day.
Yet many of us were never taught how to understand them.
Emotional intelligence is therefore an important part of my work.
Learning to identify what you are feeling, recognise your triggers, regulate your responses and understand the emotions of others can improve not only your personal wellbeing but also the quality of your relationships.
My approach is not about suppressing emotions.
It is about learning how to understand them.
Because when you understand what is happening inside you, you are often better equipped to decide what happens next.
Practical Personal Development for Everyday Life
I believe personal development should be practical. It should help you live better, not simply give you more information to remember.
That is why much of my work combines ideas from:
Positive Psychology
Emotional Intelligence
Cognitive Behavioural approaches
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
Acceptance and Commitment approaches
Compassion-focused principles
Behaviour change
Habit formation
Mindfulness and self-reflection
Wellness and healthy lifestyle principles
I take these ideas and translate them into practical strategies, reflective exercises and everyday tools that people can actually use. You do not need to become a completely different person.
Often, you simply need to become more aware of the thoughts, habits and behaviours that are shaping your life. From there, you can begin making better choices.
What I Believe
Growth Is Not About Becoming Perfect
I don’t believe personal development means having every part of your life figured out. And I certainly do not believe growth means never struggling.
We are human. Seasons of life come and go, disappointments, difficult emotions, and circumstances we cannot control will happen. Personal growth is about becoming better equipped to navigate those experiences.
It means developing greater awareness.
Learning from mistakes.
Taking responsibility for what you can change.
Building healthier habits.
Understanding your emotions.
Protecting your well-being.
Strengthening your relationships.
And continuing to move forward, even when progress feels slower than you hoped.
Progress matters more than perfection.
Today, my work brings together several areas that I am deeply passionate about:
Mindset
Helping people recognize limiting beliefs, strengthen self-belief, and develop healthier ways of thinking.
Emotional Intelligence
Helping people understand emotions, recognise triggers, regulate responses and build stronger relationships.
Personal Growth
Encouraging greater self-awareness, resilience, discipline, intentional living and meaningful change.
Wellness
Supporting a healthy, active and balanced approach to physical and emotional wellbeing.
Gratitude
Exploring how gratitude, reflection and intentional appreciation can influence perspective and psychological wellbeing.
Purpose
Helping people think more deeply about their values, priorities, goals and the kind of life they want to create.
Author & Educator
Writing has become an important way for me to share these ideas.
My books and resources explore topics including mindset, gratitude, emotional intelligence, self-belief, purpose, habits, resilience and personal development.
My goal is always the same:
to take ideas that can sometimes feel complicated and make them practical, relatable and useful in everyday life.
I want someone to finish reading one of my books, articles or resources and think:
“I understand myself a little better now — and I know what I can do next.”
Beyond Personal Development
Faith, Reflection and Purpose
My Christian faith is also an important part of my personal journey.
Through Mornings With Stephen Johnsy Podscast, I share short devotional reflections, prayer and biblical wisdom designed to help people begin their day with encouragement, perspective and intention.
While my personal-development work is designed for people from many backgrounds, faith remains an important part of who I am and how I understand purpose, gratitude and life.
A Little More About Me
When I am not working in critical care, writing or creating personal-development resources, I enjoy staying active, training at the gym, travelling, reading, writing, music and discovering new places and perspectives.
I believe wellbeing is not about getting everything right. It is about learning how to care for your mind, your body, your relationships and the things that give your life meaning.

Your Growth Does Not Have to Begin With a Huge Change
Sometimes it begins with one question.
One new perspective.
One honest conversation.
One habit.
One boundary.
One decision.
Or one moment when you realize:
I don’t have to continue doing things the way I have always done them.
Wherever you are in your journey, I hope the books, articles, tools, coaching resources and ideas you find here help you understand yourself more deeply and move towards the life you want to create.
You do not have to change everything today. You simply need to take the next intentional step.
